Ameesha Patel made a smashing entry into the film world with Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai in 2000. The Rakesh Roshan movie was also the launch for his son Hrithik Roshan. The actress’s second Hindi movie Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2001) not only turned out to be a bigger hit but a historic blockbuster. Directed by Anil Sharma, the film starred Sunny Deol in the main lead along with Amrish Puri and Utkarsh Sharma.
After 22 years, the second part of Gadar in the form of Gadar 2 arrived in theatres this week and it instantly became a winner at the box office. The film opened at Rs. 40.10 crores and followed it up with Rs. 43.08 crores on the next day. Following this on its first Sunday Gadar 2 saw a further Rs. 51.70 cr coming in, taking its opening weekend total to Rs. 134.88 cr, to enter the Rs. 100 Crores Club in just three days.
Hence, Gadar 2 is all set to become Ameesha Patel’s debut in the Rs. 100 Crores Club. The actress has achieved the feat after spending 22 years in the industry and starring in over 40 films, including films down south. Similarly, Gadar 2 will also become Sunny Deol’s debut in the Rs. 100 Crores Club.
While the story of Gadar commenced in 1947, Gadar 2 is set in 1971. Produced by Zee Studios and Anil Sharma Productions, the film is directed by Anil Sharma.
