Gadar 2 is doing something truly SPECTACULAR at the box office, which has not been seen by any other Hindi film in the recent past, barring Pathaan. While the Shah Rukh Khan starrer was undeniably excellent at the box office, Gadar 2 is bringing the fight right home with a Rs. 50 crores+ day. The film’s Sunday collections read a massive 51.70 crores and that pretty much explains the kind of euphoria that’s being generated on a day by day basis now.
In fact, the Sunny Deol starrer could well have scored more than Rs. 55 crores on Sunday if not for some of the prime shows at many properties been reserved for OMG 2 and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Had it been running solo then more than Rs. 60 crores would have conveniently come in for the action entertainer that’s just the kind of 90s drama that was required for Bollywood to revive.
The movement that the Anil Sharma directed biggie has become can well be seen from the fact that it has already collected 134.88 crores in three days and would very comfortably cross Rs. 30 crores mark today. Then there is this big holiday of Independence Day coming, which means over Rs. 55 crores are on the cards. All of this means that an entry into the Rs. 200 Crore Club is there for the taking by Tuesday itself while first week number would be in excess of Rs. 250 crores.
