There have always been films that have created waves of anticipation and excitement even before they release, and one such recent release is the Sunny Deol – Ameesha Patel starrer Gadar 2. A sequel to the 2001 release Gadar – Ek Prem Katha, the film was surrounded by immense hype and expectations. Based on the same, advance reports indicated a stellar opening. Living up to expectations, Gadar 2 opened on a thunderous note, with Rs. 40.10 cr. coming in on Day 1. Following this, the business of the film witnessed exponential growth over its first Saturday and Sunday, ending its opening weekend with a collection of Rs. 134.88 cr. Now, on its first Monday running Gadar 2, has continued to enjoy incredibly positive trending, so much so that advance predictions claim that the business of the film is sure to see a marked increase from its opening day collections.
As per advance reports, Gadar 2 that enjoys immense support from the audience in both the metros and mass dominated sectors is likely to draw in between Rs. 32 to Rs. 33 cr. on Day 4. In such a case, the film could easily surpass previous releases like the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan which had collected Rs. 26.50 cr., the Salman Khan starrer Bajrangi Bhaijaan which had collected Rs. 27.05 cr., and even the Aamir Khan starrer Dangal which had collected Rs. 25.69 cr. on their respective first Monday. If that was not all, Gadar 2 is also poised to emerge as the all-time fourth highest first Monday grosser, coming in behind releases like Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion which had collected Rs. 40.25 cr, Tiger Zinda Hai which collected Rs. 36.54 cr, and Krrish 3 which had collected Rs. 35.91 cr. Interestingly, given the current scenario Gadar 2 might likely share the fourth position with Housefull 4 which had collected Rs. 32 cr.
While it remains to be seen how the business of the film fares on its first Monday reports coming in claim that Gadar 2 has seen a good start with morning and early afternoon shows seeing immense footfalls.
